Established in the late 1980s, this architecture firm is led by an experienced team of partners, principals, and associates and employs approximately 100 professionals. The firm has developed a diverse portfolio that includes city residences, suburban homes, and country estates. Our prestigious client is looking for a Director of Finance to oversee all financial functions of the firm. This is a full-time, on-site position, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM based in New York City. This role reports directly to a Partner, and will be a key participant in firm management, helping to ensure the financial health and well-being of the business.

- Experience working directly with firm leadership, leading teams, building consensus and developing productive, collegial relationships with all colleagues
- Strong understanding of project-based financial management (working in phases, hourly billing, reimbursables and consultants etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, proactive, resourceful, and solutions oriented
- Strategic thinker with hands on operational skills and the ability to implement solutions from the ground up
- A demonstrated passion for collaboration and the ability to deal with challenging situations
- Stewardship of resources with the ability to foresee and help mitigate risk
- Lead firm-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash flow management
- Oversee billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable and payroll including knowledge of applicable payroll laws
- Lead and manage a team of four
- Oversee and implement systems for project budgeting, costing, fee tracking, reporting and financial analysis
- Monitor project and firm profitability and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Manage relationships with external accountants, bankers, and insurance providers
- Manage relationships with external attorneys
- Coordinate tax preparation, compliance, and insurance renewals
- Coordinate architectural contracts and proposals
- Liaise closely with Partners on partner specific financial matters
- Coordinate with the Chair of the Finance Committee and support the financial goals of the firm
- Coordinate and partner with Department Directors, especially the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Operations
- Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance or Business Administration). MBA or advanced degree a plus
- 10+ years finance experience in a professional services firm in architecture, engineering or consulting industries with a firm size of 50+ employees
- Proven managerial experience
- Financial systems proficiency (Deltek Vantagepoint or similar)

New York Pay Range
$150,000 - $180,000 USD
