Position: Executive Chief of Staff (Office of the President)
Location: New York

Position Details

Reporting to the President, the Executive Chief of Staff serves in an executive capacity to effectively organize and manage activities of the Office of the President to maximize staff productivity in the implementation of policy guidelines covering a broad spectrum of staff operations. This role involves highly sensitive issues requiring tact, discretion, and responsiveness to the philosophy and vision of the President in dealing with executive level public officials, elected officials, representatives of the business community, the press, constituents and others.

and Responsibilities
  • Articulate, advocate, and represent the best interests of the College and the office of the President, serving as a principal executive‑level resource for the President; provide administrative support services as requested and serve on the college's leadership team; articulate presidential views that impact the formulation of college policies, long‑range goals and objectives; act as a liaison to University offices as needed.
  • Oversee and lead the professional activities of the Office of the President; develop strategies that enable the office to respond to diverse, complex issues from a variety of constituent groups; conduct ongoing assessment of the functions of the office and staff's ability to meet multifaceted responsibilities; facilitate the flow of requested information to/from colleagues and external constituents to the President; may supervise staff as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all phases of college operations, college‑wide services to students, academic programmatic initiatives and activities, support the Office of the President on fundraising issues, external partnerships, strategic planning, assessment, professional development, and Research Foundation projects.
  • Move forward internal and external projects initiated by the President and assist in further development from conception to completion; provide advice to the President on emerging trends and opportunities that will create institutional growth and viability.
  • Support and enhance the communications flow from the President's Office to the college community and other interested groups.
  • Provide data‑driven, case study and anecdotal analyses, and advise the President on all issues affecting the institution; assist in coordination and management of all phases of college operations. Develop presidential objectives and goals into workable action plans, facilitate successful completion of those objectives, and provide critical commentary on material submitted to the President for review.
  • Serve on presidential task forces, college‑related entities, college‑wide committees, and community‑based committees as assigned.
  • Prepare agenda and memo drafts, provide advance meeting materials and coordinate briefings for the President.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the President.
Qualifications

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

$170, - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
