Construction Project Manager – Public Works (NJ/NY)

The RoleWe’re hiring a Construction Project Manager focused on Public Works to lead projects from preconstruction through closeout. You’ll own schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder alignment—ensuring each project is delivered with precision, professionalism, and transparency.
What You’ll Do- Lead municipal, educational, and government construction projects from kickoff to turnover
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and forecasts
- Drive coordination with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and end users; lead OAC meetings
- Oversee subcontractor buyout, scopes, contracts, change management, and cost control
- Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily reports, pay applications, and closeout documentation
- Ensure compliance with public-sector requirements (bid documentation, reporting, audit-ready files, etc.)
- Maintain quality and safety standards; coordinate inspections, testing, and punch lists
- Leverage construction tech (Procore/Autodesk Build/Planswift/MS Project, etc.) to streamline workflows and communication
- 5+ years PM experience in commercial construction (public works strongly preferred)
- Track record delivering projects on time and on budget with strong documentation habits
- Solid understanding of drawings, specs, contracts, and field coordination
- Confident leader who communicates clearly with stakeholders and subcontractors
- Comfortable with public procurement processes and compliance-driven environments
- Proficiency with project management software (Procore/Autodesk/Planswift/MS Project/Excel)
- Experience with occupied facilities, phased work, or active campuses
- Familiarity with prevailing wage/certified payroll, MWBE/SDVOB participation, or similar requirements (as applicable)
- OSHA 30, PMP, CCM, or equivalent credentials
- High-accountability culture with premium standards and modern tools
