Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer - New York City | Hybrid
United Way of New York City (UWNYC) seeks an executive fundraising leader to oversee all development efforts, including corporate, foundation, individual, and major donors, digital fundraising, and brand experiences. The CDO will lead a high-performing team and work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, and Community Impact teams to increase philanthropic support and expand visibility for UWNYC’s mission.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the organization’s comprehensive fundraising strategy and execution
- Manage and mentor the development team, fostering a high-performance, mission-driven culture
- Cultivate and sustain major donor, corporate, and foundation relationships
- Oversee digital fundraising, marketing, and brand experiences to grow visibility and support
- Collaborate across Executive Leadership, Community Impact, and Marketing & Communications teams
- Use data to drive strategy, fundraising metrics, and performance goals
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors
- Represent UWNYC citywide, building and leveraging high-impact partnerships
- 15+ years in nonprofit fundraising, with proven success leading development departments
- Track record in full-cycle donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Experience managing high-performing teams and developing staff professionally
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
- Strategic, revenue-focused, mission-driven, and collaborative
- Experience in corporate, foundation, and individual giving, as well as digital fundraising
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience with cloud-based CRM systems (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge a plus)
