Position: Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) Lead
Location: New York

NSB Omega is searching for a Simultaneous Operations Lead for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in St John's, NL.

Assignment Description

Overview

Reporting to the Manager Shared Services and SIMOPS, the Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) Lead will manage the SIMOPS planning, interface management and overall coordination for all offshore activities in the Platform field. These SIMOPS may notably include the coordinated offshore execution related to mobile offshore drilling unit, platform FPSO (TN FPSO) turnaround, dive support vessel (DSV), and supply vessel(s) (OSVs) work scopes in the Platform field commencing on or about Q1 2027.

This position will be full-time onshore and may transition to offshore during the execution phase (onboard the MODU, TN FPSO, DSV, and/or OSV). Following the offshore execution phase, this role may be required to support the overall project closeout phase.

Accountabilities
  • Coordinate overall SIMOPS planning for project activities, including the regular review of project schedules to ensure sufficient level of planning detail of SIMOPS activities is included in the integrated schedule and vetted with key project stakeholders (FPSO Turnaround, WISE Project, and water‑alternating gas (WAG) Diving Project);
  • Facilitate working team SIMOPS meetings between all projects and The platform Operations with particular focus on identifying constraints/clashes, understanding of interdependencies between projects, and efficient action management;
  • Lead interface management process between projects and the platform Operations with a specific focus on constraints between multiple project requirements and available Platform assets;
  • Manage interface register actions and follow‑ups to ensure closure and mitigate potential SIMOPS clashes;
  • Coordinate overall SIMOPS operational readiness, facilitate readiness reviews, and oversee administration of SIMOPS forms and tools during the offshore execution phase;
  • Coordinate contingency planning related to SIMOPS to account for unforeseen delays (technical, weather, 'found work') and minimize potential schedule clashes;
  • Development and administration of a comprehensive SIMOPS Matrix of all the key activities of each vessel (FPSO, MODU, DSV) to define all SIMOPS restrictions for input into the integrated schedule.
  • Development and administration of a SIMOPS communication plan/protocol, including the presentation to key stakeholders for training/refresher purposes and potential clash awareness.
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate SIMOPS tracking tools (charts, timelines, etc.)
  • Prepare regular SIMOPS stewardship presentations / reports to outline key interface action progress and highlight any identified constraints and recommended mitigations for leadership decision making.
  • Facilitate regular multi‑party SIMOPS focused calls during the offshore execution phase
Required Qualifications
  • Engineering degree or equivalent education and technical experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry
Skills, Knowledge and Competency
  • Strong understanding of project planning and execution practices
  • Possess excellent communication, problem solving, reporting and organizational skills.
  • Experience with a variety of offshore activities including Subsea Construction, Dive Support Vessel (DSV) operations, Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit operations and Vessel Logistics.
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong horizontal leadership with proven ability to collaborate with a variety of functions and organization levels to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Valid certifications for offshore, as required (e.g. East Coast Medical, Basic Survival Training (BST) c/w Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS)).
Work Schedule
  • The hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the potential requirement for extended hours based on business needs with the potential to travel offshore.
