Director of Logistics

Overview

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is looking for a Director of Logistics to join our Supply Chain team. This role works closely with the growing team as we embark on the next stage of accelerated growth. Ideal for candidates with extensive experience in 3PL management, a passion for logistical efficiencies, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment (and a love for ice cream!).

The Director of Logistics is responsible for ensuring success across all key functions of third-party warehousing and logistics operations. This role will work with the VP of Supply Chain & Logistics to develop and execute distribution strategies and KPIs for wholesale, retail, and DTC channels. The position is based in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn office and follows Van Leeuwen s Hybrid work model, with in-office presence at least two to three days a week.

• Develop and implement logistics strategies and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Coordinate and manage logistics, 3PL warehouse operations, intercompany transfers, last mile scoop shop delivery, and CPG order management & customer service.
• Monitor and control inventory, delivery processes, and quality standards.
• Develop and manage budgets in accordance with the financial goals of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.
• Analyze and address logistical challenges and propose proactive solutions.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
• Prepare standard report packages reporting overall performance and cost reports for VL leadership.
• Manage and lead teams to meet targets, partnering with the Director of Supply Chain & VP of Supply Chain to exceed customer expectations both internally & externally.
• Oversee and improve 3PL warehouse performance by establishing stronger processes, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Inventory management across all warehouse locations, including inventory transfer management, rebalancing, and WOS replenishment.
• Manage inventory levels and ensure IOH accuracy while partnering with peers to continuously supply inventory availability.
• Oversee (and initially perform) Wholesale Order fulfillment, including EDI and ASN connection build-out.
• Provide support and improve line of sight of sales fulfillment for the sales team.
• Improve On Time Delivery and Total Order Fulfillment success rates.
• Reduce OOS occurrences at Retail Scoop Shops.
• Build strong processes and carrier relationships to minimize accessorial freight charges.
• Manage and meet budget for all logistics costs.
• Collaborate with VP of Supply Chain and Logistics to build annual logistics budget, drive ad hoc distribution and logistics initiatives, and establish new 3PL warehouse and logistics systems for new and existing markets.
• Onboard new 3PL warehouses as necessary and build an internal logistics team while improving internal processes.

• Master s Degree in Supply Chain or related field
• 8 to 10 years of related experience
• Experience in food or beverage manufacturing
• Experience with third-party logistics and warehousing
• Experience with ERP (Net Suite) & TMS applications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• $150,000 - $170,000 annual compensation, depending on experience, paid weekly
