Job Summary

The Housing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the review and submission of housing packets for the CURRENT and DHS (Department of Homeless Services). Have extensive knowledge of DHS-CARES. In addition to managing these critical tasks, the Housing Supervisor will provide supervision and guidance to a team of housing specialists, employment specialists, recreation specialists, and entitlement specialists.

Pay: $66,300 annual salary.

FLSA: Exempt. Not eligible for overtime.

Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday, Saturday 8am-4pm Friday 11am-7pm (Sunday & Monday off)

Location: Gowanus/Park Slope Brooklyn, NY

Job-related Duties – Essential Functions
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of housing packets for submission to HOME, CAPS, Current, The Rental Supplement Unit and other DHS programs.
  • Conduct 1 to 1 and group meetings with members of your team and update the performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental agencies and community partners.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to clients.
  • Monitor program compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Lead team meetings to discuss program updates, challenges, and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Participate in strategic planning to improve program outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Manage workshops and outreach programs.
  • Attend housing meetings, trainings and workshops at/by DHS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintains charts, files, and housing paperwork in an orderly fashion.
  • Always maintains clinical appropriateness.
Qualifications

ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Must have at least two years’ experience working in a related field such as homelessness or housing and at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. In lieu of educational requirements, at least 5 years of experience with housing programs, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Must have working knowledge and insight into NYC housing resources including experience helping people find affordable housing and working with different NYC and NY State agencies and programs that facilitate permanent housing goals including CURRENT and DHS programs.
  • Communication:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Computer skills:
    Basic competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and the internet
  • Math

    Skills:

    Ability to formulate simple financial budgets
  • Physical Performance:
    Ability to make home visits (walk distances, climb several flights of stairs, etc.)

    Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls
