Position Overview

This is an opportunity to join a leading North American energy infrastructure platform with a diversified portfolio spanning generation, transmission, renewables, battery storage, and other energy transition assets.

The firm is seeking an Senior Vice President of Power Trading to lead commercial strategy, trading activities, asset optimization, and risk management across U.S. power markets. This is a highly visible leadership role working closely with executive management, asset management, development, and acquisitions teams to maximize portfolio value and drive commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and execute trading and hedging opportunities across Power, FTRs, Natural Gas, RECs, Emissions, and related commodity markets
  • Lead commercial strategies supporting generation assets, including bidding, fuel procurement, outage coordination, and risk management
  • Develop and oversee portfolio hedging, trading, and optimization strategies across multiple market regions
  • Support acquisitions and development initiatives through asset valuation, revenue forecasting, and commercial due diligence
  • Monitor market fundamentals, regulatory developments, and pricing trends to inform strategic decision-making
  • Structure and negotiate complex commercial transactions and trading agreements
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing commercial and trading team
Candidate Profile
  • 15+ years of experience across power trading, energy marketing, asset optimization, or commercial leadership
  • Deep understanding of U.S. power markets, generation economics, and commodity trading
  • Experience across power, natural gas, environmental products, and transmission congestion markets
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and market modeling capabilities
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior-level decisions
  • Experience supporting asset acquisitions, valuation, and portfolio optimization initiatives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
