Reentry Works seeks to improve transitional planning and reentry outcomes for individuals leaving state incarceration by assessing their needs and connecting them with appropriate services before their release from NYS prison.
We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator to lead our team of Reentry Works transitional planners. The Program Coordinator supervises Transitional Planners as they create transitional plans for individuals soon-to-be-released from DOCCS custody to NYC and serves as the coordinator between the Transitional Planners, DOCCS staff, and NYC reentry community partners.
This role would be based out of our Newburgh office, requiring travel to and work within prisons up to 50 miles from the Newburgh office. In a typical week, the Coordinator spends 1-2 days per week in prisons, 1‑2 days per week in the Newburgh office, and the remainder working remotely. Scheduling subject to change.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Correction and Community Supervision (DOCCS) clearance to work in facilities operated by the Department of Correction and Community Supervision.
Salary: $68,000‑$73,000 per year
Requirements- Supervision of a team of Transitional Planners who develop transitional plans based on people’s criminogenic risks and needs, including challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, unemployment, and other needs.
- Oversight of service delivery in prisons, referral coordination, and Liberation Day transportation.
- Coordination and collaboration with NYC partner reentry organizations, DOCCS, and MOCJ.
- Work in partnership with the Deputy Director and Vice President of Prison Services to ensure successful achievement of assigned programs, service goals, and objectives.
- Ability to multitask, travel between the Newburgh office and multiple prisons, and coordinate from different sites, including virtual work.
- Must be able to obtain clearance to enter and work in New York State Prisons.
- May assist with other programming grants as needed.
- In‑person attendance is required to collaborate with others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Social Work/Criminal Justice/Social Service related field.
- A valid NYS driver's license required.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of NYC reentry/social service providers and resources.
- Experience with Google Suite or similar products.
- Ability to facilitate groups and train others to do so.
- Proficiency in data management systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups, including staff and corrections.
