New York City (On-site) - Safety Director
Our client is one of the largest and most respected electrical contractors in the United States, with more than a century of experience delivering complex electrical, transportation, utility, power, and infrastructure projects throughout New York City and across the country. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead safety operations throughout the NYC region.
This is a high-profile leadership position responsible for driving safety strategy, developing company wide safety programs, leading OSHA investigations, and overseeing a team of safety professionals supporting some of the region's most challenging electrical and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of company wide safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Write and review safety plans, bid-related safety documentation, SWPs, and JHAs
- Manage OSHA investigations, incident reviews, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, DOB, EPA, NFPA, MTA, Port Authority, and other applicable regulations
- Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across active project sites
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to safety managers and field safety personnel
- Deliver and oversee safety training programs while promoting a proactive safety culture
- Partner with executive leadership, operations teams, and clients on safety strategy and risk management
- OSHA 500 Trainer Certification
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive construction safety experience
- Minimum 5 years in a senior safety leadership role
- Strong electrical construction background
- Extensive experience leading OSHA investigations and regulatory compliance efforts
- Proven experience developing safety policies, procedures, and training programs
- Experience supporting MTA NYCT and/or Port Authority projects
- Strong understanding of union construction environments
- NYC DOB Licensed Safety Manager (LSM)
- CHST Certification
- NFPA 70E Training
- HAZWOPER Certification
- Experience supporting transit, rail, utility, power generation, roadway, bridge, airport, or other large-scale infrastructure projects
