Jabs Group is growing, and we’re looking to add a Director / Head of Cost Management – New York to our team.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor who can help lead and grow Jabs Group’s New York cost management platform across luxury retail, hospitality, and high‑end residential projects
.
The ideal candidate has strong technical cost management experience, understands the NYC construction market, and is ready to take on a leadership role within a growing boutique firm.
This position is remote/hybrid, but candidates must be based in or near New York City and be available to be on‑site as needed during active project phases.
About the Role- Lead cost management for major New York projects from early budgeting through closeout
- Oversee pre‑contract cost planning, elemental estimates, and design‑stage budgets
- Lead post‑contract cost control, change management, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Manage bid leveling, trade analysis, procurement support, and subcontractor negotiations
- Review monthly cost reports, cash flows, draws, change orders, and financial updates
- Work directly with owners, architects, designers, contractors, and senior client teams
- Help establish Jabs Group’s NYC cost management systems, standards, and reporting processes
- Support and mentor future cost managers and project teams as the NYC office grows
- Play a key role in building the New York cost management division
- Luxury flagship retail projects
- High‑end hospitality, restaurant, and lifestyle projects
- Complex tenant improvement and landlord‑coordinated scopes
- Custom millwork, specialty finishes, storefronts, lighting, MEP systems, kitchen equipment, furniture and bespoke detailing
- Projects that require precision, strong cost discipline, and senior‑level communication
- 7–12+ years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management
- Strong background in high‑end retail, hospitality, luxury interiors, or complex commercial projects
- Deep understanding of the NYC construction market
- Experience leading estimates, budgets, change orders, procurement, and cost reports
- Familiarity with RICS methodologies and reporting standards
- MRICS or actively working toward APC preferred
- Strong Excel, Bluebeam, OST, or similar takeoff / cost management skills
- Clear, confident communicator who can work directly with clients and senior project stakeholders
- Someone entrepreneurial who wants to help build a team, not just fill a role
$175,000–$250,000 total compensation range, depending on experience, plus bonus and RICS/APC support.
