POSITION SUMMARY

This position is accountable for directing all Buses preventive maintenance activities and establishing, monitoring, and enforcing maintenance policy for all Central Maintenance Facility locations. Responsible for strategic planning of equipment, maintenance of equipment, and scrapping. Accountable for directing continuous communication and feedback on bus conditions, scopes of work and scheduling of buses. Directs the development of the Shop Quality Control Program.

Manages and directs all MTA Bus Farebox maintenance and collection equipment. Oversees Unit production (transmissions, etc.) requirements and minimize "out of stock" components. Accountable for directing Buses Support Fleet Services consisting of Non-Revenue Fleet and Non-Fixed Equipment Operations. This includes the specification, acquisition, inspection, maintenance programs, general repair, and decommissioning for a fleet of over 1800 vehicles and 500 pieces of equipment.

Accountable for directing all maintenance activities related to Technical Services, Engineering, Research & Development, Customer Service, Bus Procurement, Vendor Inspection, Warranty, Quality Control, Production Planning & Maintenance Program Analysis. Directs the administration of state-of-the-art core, hands‑on and depot‑based maintenance training/development programs for new and incumbent hourly/supervisory employees. Directs related administrative functions. Accountable for overseeing all financial, planning, analytical, and administrative functions for the combined Central Maintenance Facilities/Chief Maintenance Office (CMF/CMO) Division.

Accountable for leading both short- and long-term planning of budget needs and improving core business objectives . Oversees Buses Maintenance Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Program as a part of the overall MTA initiative to optimize the quality and utilization of assets throughout their lifecycle. Responsible for directing newly created Research & Development / Zero-Emission Fleet Implementation Division. Oversees research, development, and implementation of new technologies and new bus initiatives resulting in more effective, efficient, environmentally friendly, and the safety of buses entering customer service, and increased "Mean Distance Between Failure".

Accountable for supporting the EVP Office through the development and execution of maintenance strategies designed to maintain and elevate performance across all bus maintenance operations. Oversee the Quality Assurance group to ensure consistent application of maintenance policies, adherence to standards, and continuous improvement initiatives across all depot maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates, oversees, and manages all aspects of Shop operations, including major overhauls on electrical, mechanical, and body components of revenue vehicles. Provides a properly maintained fleet. Assures Buses goals and objectives for Overhaul and Quality Control programs are met. Assures that the Unit Shop supports program demands as well as depot requirements. Ensure a safe environment and that all Maintenance operations are coordinated and effectively managed.

    Directs the thorough pre-inspection of buses. Ensure Quality Control programs are in place to monitor shop floor quality, adherence to scopes of work, and ensuring dwell days are minimized. Manages and directs MTA Bus Farebox operations and creates maintenance policies to improve farebox reliability. Oversees Revenue collection at all MTA Bus Depots and ensures collection equipment is properly maintained and defects are minimized.

    Directs the improvement of customer service between the CMF and its customers (depots).
  • Accountable for directing Buses Support Fleet Services operations for non-revenue vehicles and non-fixed equipment. This includes preventive maintenance; inspections and general repair of a fleet of approximately 1800 vehicles (class 1 thru
    8) and 500 pieces of equipment (Forklift, Scrubber, UTV, Scissor Lifts, Tractors, Pay Loaders, etc.); acquisition and replacement of vehicles and equipment; monitoring vendor repair contracts; and monitoring fleet usage. Ensures a safe environment.
  • Accountable for directing all financial, planning, analytical, and administrative functions for the combined CMF/CMO Division. Oversees shop maintenance program, fleet planning, bus assignment, and scrap program. Accountable for leading both shortand long-term planning of budget needs and improve core business objectives .
