PositionObjective
This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate accounting and financial reporting of Capital Assets and Inventory. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing project completions, reviewing and analyzing accounting transactions, preparing and reviewing accounting entries, and assisting with the preparation of audited financial statements and disclosures. The focus of this work will be for all MTA Agencies. This position will coach and supervise staff.
Responsibilities- Oversee all activities related to the proper accounting and financial reporting of MTA Agencies' Fixed Assets and Inventory.
- Manage the analysis and recording of monthly Fixed Assets and Inventory Transactions for MTA Agencies.
- Reviews, analyzes, and prepares journal entries for the MTA Agencies' Inventory accounting activity, including the inventory reserves.
- Review project status reports and documentation to assess and ensure proper Fixed Assets accounting treatment and capitalization. Manage the preparation of annual templates and reports for MTA Agencies Fixed Assets and Inventory.
- Manage the preparation and review of account analysis, quarterly roll-forward, and disclosure reports.
- Discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review the performance of staff. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.
- Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling.
- Provide information as needed for internal and external audits.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting and/or finance or business-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college, may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 7 years of accounting experience
