As the Practice Services Supervisor
, you’ll play a critical leadership role within the Practice Services Department, partnering closely with the Associate Director of Practice Services and the Practice Services Manager to ensure consistent, high‑quality administrative support for attorneys and clients. You’ll oversee daily operations, proactively manage workflow and staffing, and serve as a visible, trusted resource. You’ll build strong relationships, spot challenges early, and drive service excellence across practice groups.
Your work will directly shape team engagement, operational effectiveness, and the overall client experience.
- Department Leadership & Operations: Provide hands‑on, day‑to‑day leadership to deliver responsive, high‑quality administrative support aligned with firm and client needs, while advancing departmental goals and service standards.
- People Management & Employee Lifecycle: Supervise Practice Services staff and support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and engagement in partnership with department leadership.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Address employee relations matters, including corrective action, separations, attendance, and timekeeping in collaboration with Human Resources and in accordance with firm policies.
- Staffing & Resource Planning: Assign practice assistants and backup coverage based on workload, skills, and business priorities; coordinate overtime, special projects, trial teams, and peak workload periods.

Collaboration:
Proactively communicate staffing plans, coverage changes, and resource updates to attorneys and staff while fostering strong cross‑functional relationships. - Training, Development & Continuous Improvement: Lead onboarding and orientation, partner on role‑appropriate training and technology learning, and maintain documentation, reporting, and best practices informed by industry trends.
- Education: Associate’s degree, relevant certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 3‑5 years of supervisory or relevant work experience, ideally within a professional services environment; legal industry experience strongly preferred.
- People & Performance Management: Demonstrated success managing administrative or legal support teams in a medium to large organization.
- Service Excellence Mindset: Proven ability to deliver prompt, professional, and high‑quality administrative support in a client‑focused setting.
- Communication & Organization: Strong interpersonal, written, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Judgment & Discretion: Sound decision‑making, problem‑solving ability, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and equitable treatment.
- Adaptability Under Pressure: Ability to remain calm, flexible, and effective in a fast‑paced, high‑demand environment.
- Collaborative Presence: Confidence interacting professionally with individuals at all levels of the firm while exercising independent judgment.
