The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well‑being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community‑based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidised childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programmes for youth in the community.
Duties- Make recommendations for staffing assignments to gain maximum benefits from staff members’ individual strengths and office needs.
- Work with unit supervisors to create employee tasks and standards and evaluate the work performance of all subordinates yearly.
- Design, conduct, and coordinate staff development and training for all units.
- Attend on behalf of FCLS all Division of Child Protection, Foster Care/IOC related internal and external contract agencies meetings.
- Co‑ordinate and facilitate presentations for other ACS programmes and ACS’ contract agencies and be available to answer questions related to FCLS policy and procedure, child welfare policy, LTS, and the court process.
- Create and design improved monitoring and tracking mechanisms.
- Provide daily and monthly ticklers/schedules for FCLS support staff; track and monitor daily intake census, IOC contact agency PH report submission timeliness, monthly tally of court‑ordered investigations, PH notices, DCP and daily psychiatric hospitalisation notifications, monthly borough divisional fact sheets, contract agency caseworker court hearing non‑appearances, and family‑first notifications and motions.
- On behalf of FCLS attorneys, interface with the court, ACS’ Division of Child Protection, Division of Youth and Family Justice, Division of Family Permanency Services, Agency Program Assistance, and the contracted foster care agencies to research and resolve court‑ordered services, placement, payment, ICPC, and pre‑contempt/contempt/No Reasonable Efforts issues.
- Evaluate, access and respond to inquiries from the court, ACS’ divisions and contract agencies by reviewing CONNX records, PH reports, court action summaries, LTS, and/or UCMS to ensure that accurate and appropriate information is provided by FCLS.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience, including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic or community organisation operating in the area of social services; or
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. All candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and the one year of experience at the administrative or management level as described.
