About This Role
The Assistant Director of the Operating Room plays a crucial role in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing services and education programs within the hospital. This position is ideal for experienced nursing professionals looking to take on leadership responsibilities.
Highlights- Pay: $150,000/year
- Location: Brooklyn, NY
- Facility: Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center
- Department/Unit: OPERATING ROOM
- Schedule: Full-Time, Day (7:00 A.M – 3:00 P.M), No weekends
- Assist in developing policies, objectives, and standards of nursing service and education.
- Assist in the preparation of personnel, supply, and equipment budgets.
- Assist in the development of administrative procedures and programs of patient care.
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate nursing service in a major clinical division or home health agency.
- Assist with the planning, organization, and conduct of a nursing education program.
- Assume responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing service on evening and night tours.
- Direct activities of Supervisor of Nurses.
- Prepare and make periodic and daily reports on administrative matters relating to staff and patient management.
- Participate in the direction and implementation of a quality assurance program for nursing.
- Attend and chair regular staff meetings with nursing personnel.
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty, or equivalent field required; or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with additional experience.
Experience:
- Five years of satisfactory nursing experience, with three years in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or six years of satisfactory nursing experience with four years in a supervisory or teaching capacity.

- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State.
