Position: Area Business Manager, Vaccines - Long Island, NY
Location: New York

Role Summary

Vaccines Area Business Manager (ABM) reports to the Regional Business Director (RBD) and works with customer‑facing colleagues (Accounts and Pharmacy) and Headquarters teams across the organization. The ABM supervises 9–12 representatives within the assigned area, manages the sales performance of the vaccines portfolio, and develops in‑depth sales business plans.

Role Responsibilities Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Hire, coach, develop, and manage 9–12 representatives.
  • Establish clear team goals, hold members accountable, and address underperformance.
  • Build a strong team culture grounded in engagement, morale, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply situational leadership and multimodal coaching (live, virtual, hybrid) to strengthen rep capabilities.
  • Ensure colleagues receive meaningful development opportunities that support career growth.
Business Planning & Execution
  • Develop and implement strategic area business plans aligned with national and regional priorities.
  • Own area‑level budget accountability; plan, organize, and monitor resource deployment.
  • Conduct proactive data analysis to identify market trends, assess stakeholders, and anticipate shifts.
  • Ensure effective and efficient utilization of promotional materials and measure field execution against plan.
  • Collaborate with Marketing during the Op Plan process to shape key strategies, imperatives, and objectives.
Customer Engagement & Key Account Development
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers (including KOLs), IDNs, large group practices, retail stores, grantees, FQHCs, DoD, VA across vaccines therapeutic areas.
  • Model high clinical knowledge and lead credible, science‑forward conversations.
  • Identify and pursue key account development opportunities that impact area and national business.
  • Champion cross‑functional collaboration to meet customer needs and connect HSPs with channel and HQ partners.
  • Coach reps on integrating digital tools and cross‑functional colleagues into customer engagements.
  • Coach on execution of Consultative Account‑Based Portfolio Selling (CAPS).
Compliance & Integrity
  • Ensure full compliance of all selling activities for self and team with legal, regulatory, and Pfizer policy requirements.
  • Maintain complete working knowledge of all relevant compliance policies and promptly elevate issues.
  • Model Pfizer’s commitment to integrity in every customer and internal interaction.
Digital & Operational Excellence
  • Expert‑level operation of digital and virtual tools and platforms.
  • Apply data‑driven resource management to ensure appropriate channel deployment across a dual‑portfolio area.
  • Leverage sales data and reporting software to draw conclusions, adjust strategy, and adapt to evolving technology models.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience engaging key thought leaders or high‑influence customers in large group practices, hospitals, or managed care organizations (preferred).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a compliant driving record.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities including influencing, collaborating, coaching, and delivering business impact.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of people management experience; proven ability to develop and motivate others.
  • Vaccines experience and expertise strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and reinforce team expertise across a broader portfolio with a Science First mindset.
