Job Title & Location
Records Lead Specialist – 15001 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora, CO , City of Aurora, Colorado.
Compensation$29.89 – $37.36 per hour. Duties are open until a sufficient qualified applicant pool is obtained.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Collect, store, and disseminate criminal information and reports to police personnel and the public.
- Train staff and develop training material for high‑liability and technical tasks.
- Import, update, and perform quality control on computer‑generated reports; track, distribute, file, and scan documents.
- Advise citizens on procedures and laws, research and solve report, record, and identification problems.
- Maintain accurate criminal history and warrant information across local, state, and national systems.
- Coordinate court‑related duties, including scheduling officers for subpoenas, logging subpoenas, and processing court orders.
- Intake and process requests for criminal justice records, including denial of access when requested by the public.
- Respond to inquiries that require interpretation of policy and procedures, and assist in developing operational priorities.
- Lead unit activities when a supervisor is unavailable.
- High School Diploma or GED; official transcript must be submitted.
- Minimum 1 year in a Law Enforcement Records Section; 2 years general office or clerical experience with data entry and customer service.
- CCIC/NCIC certification within 6 months of employment (preferred).
- Colorado Certified Records Network (CCRN) Master Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of record‑keeping systems, databases, and office software (Word, Windows).
- Skill in passing a Criti Call Exam covering data entry, sentence clarity, and multitasking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens.
- Capacity to handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Willingness to work any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays; shifts are bid each year based on seniority.
- Expect light daily lifting (≤20lb), frequent walking, standing, and computer use.
- Use of personal equipment (vehicle, cell phone, tools) may be required.
- Position may require occasional use of photocopy and microfilm equipment.
- Drug testing and thorough criminal background check are required upon hiring.
- This is a safety‑sensitive position; drug testing may be required for all finalists.
