SCWA is currently seeking a Storeroom Supervisor to supervise the storeroom operations for the Suffolk County Water Authority, ensuring optimal material management and inventory control practices. This position will also establish and maintain a quarterly inventory plan for our main facility and two outlying offices, as well as maintain and control sufficient stock levels to facilitate both SCWA crews and contractors in new construction, maintenance, and emergency installations.
There will be regular communication with the procurement department and outside department stakeholders on all material contracts and purchases. This position will report to our Oakdale location with a schedule of Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4:30pm.
- Supervise union staff and ensure adequate training.
- Oversee storekeepers for proper inventory management practices.
- Assist in review and performance evaluation of new storekeepers.
- Ensure staff and store’s facilities are operated in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct regular and consistent cycle counts for all storeroom locations.
- Investigate and reconcile all inventory discrepancies in preparation for yearly audit.
- Oversee truck inventory inspections to be conducted twice a year.
- Manage all material paperwork for special projects.
- Weekly spot counts on fast moving, high dollar materials.
- Ordering of materials.
- Review of storekeeper’s cycle counts and inventory control in all storerooms.
- Ensure non-staffed storerooms are maintained and stocked appropriately.
- Review and edit of material requisition.
- Participate in annual audit of outer office storerooms and ensure 98-100% accuracy.
- All other duties as assigned by Storeroom Manager.
- Associate’s degree in business management/administration or accounting required; bachelor’s degree in business management/administration, logistics, or supply chain management preferred.
- 4-6 years on construction crews or in waterworks industry preferred.
- 2-4 years managing union staff in an inventory/warehousing capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of material management and water works supplies.
- Knowledge of inventory control and material audit practices.
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Must be highly organized with good communication skills.
- Strong communication with contractors and other SCWA departments along with excellent organizational skills is essential for success.
- Ability to work outside in the elements at times.
- Strong ability to learn database programs.
Salary: $75-90k
Suffolk County residence is highly preferred.
The Authority may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet requirements.
