With a reputation built on trust, quality, and community engagement, we are expanding our operations and looking for a strategic and hands‑on Director of Operations to lead our Long Island region.
Position SummaryThe Director of Operations will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of four Supermarkets in the Long Island area. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, improving store performance, ensuring compliance, and leading store management teams. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), results‑oriented, and experienced in multi‑store grocery or retail management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and support Store Managers and department heads across 4 store locations.
- Ensure consistent execution of company policies, merchandising standards, and customer service expectations.
- Monitor KPIs and sales performance, taking action to drive growth and improve profitability.
- Oversee inventory control, shrink management, and labor cost efficiency.
- Implement operational best practices and continuous improvement strategies.
- Collaborate with the corporate office on marketing initiatives, vendor relations, HR matters, and financial reporting.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and labor regulations across all stores.
- Cultivate a positive work environment aligned with the companies values and culture.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in supermarket or multi‑unit retail operations.
- Proven leadership in managing multiple locations and cross‑functional teams.
- Strong understanding of grocery retail metrics, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) – REQUIRED.
- Ability to travel locally between store locations as needed.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make data‑driven decisions.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays when necessary.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities and Hispanic retail markets.
- Knowledge of POS systems, inventory management software, and retail analytics tools.
- Background in unionized environments is a plus.
