Position Summary: The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) employs a workforce of over 8,000 employees in 1,600 locations to prepare and serve New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) students over 150 million meals annually. To carry out this work OFNS annually uses +$300M of equipment, food, supplies and services purchased under contract, and +$40M of Federally supplied food commodities.
In addition to day-to-day operations, OFNS is working on several initiatives that will add overall value to work performed and support high-level Chancellor and Mayoral initiatives.
The Training Developer Coordinator will support the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs that impact the professional advancement of all levels of staff and management throughout OFNS. The position will perform functions related to operational advancement and communications with a high degree of efficiency and customer service, assisting in the implementation of community development programs within OFNS. The selected candidate(s) will monitor and evaluate various initiatives including but not limited to professional and culinary development of hourly and annual school-based food service staff and School Food Service Managers.

Key Relationships:Relationships will be fostered with Principals, School Administration, OFNS Administration, as well as the Sr. Director of Training and Professional Development Coordinator, Regional Directors, District Supervisors, Training Managers, Kitchen Team Members, and other employees within OFNS. There will also be a focus on building relationships with regional and central staff as well as outside supporters of healthy eating for NYC residents.
Responsibilities:- Works cross-functionally on a routine basis to provide the best outcomes regarding community and organizational needs.
- Speaks with department heads and operations personnel to determine training needs, implementing training programs in OFNS procedures and reviewing data from previous training programs to determine their success for a wider understanding of the organization.
- Manages review and feedback with the Senior Director, ensuring training needs align with the organization’s vision.
- Manages relationships both within and outside the department to ensure consistency in messaging and attentiveness to the needs of departments and heads of departments.
- Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs, i.e. established training programs, providing important community services through the OFNS.
- Designs, delivers, and evaluates OFNS training modules and professional development programs.
- Coordinates functions among community organizations leading toward successful rollouts of community-based programs to benefit NYC residents at large.
- Works collaboratively within the agency as well as other City agencies and other interested parties to secure the best outcomes.
- Performs difficult work in the preparation of planning documents and market research required for funding mayoral initiatives and community enrichment; ensures resource availability and allocation.
- Prepares evaluation reports and performs analyses related to the progress of programs.
- Assesses existing operational programs related to the Training and Professional Development unit and plans related to public food services as well as other factors of community and organizational importance; supports Training Managers, Supervisors and related staff upholding goals.
- Assists with the rollout of major changes to school food services, including various operational Mayoral initiatives.
- Provides technical assistance and training to affected staff in program implementation and management including professional development workshops.
- Collaborates with OFNS staff and management regarding OFNS operational initiatives to ensure successful outcomes.
- Travels throughout the 5 boroughs to effectuate lasting, positive change for the communities of NYC.
