Overview

- Manage and direct the work of subordinates; assume accountability for work performed by subordinates; resolve problems; monitor activities and performance of subordinates; prepare performance evaluations; provide feedback to staff on their work performance; ensure that the Boroughs Administrative team supports the Child Protective teams.
- Manage sub-imprest/other funds by disbursing funds, obtaining receipts, reconciling balances, maintaining adequate cash on hand, and keeping records to ensure ready availability of authorized operating funds.
- Reconcile monthly claims by reviewing records, receipts, vouchers, and other fiscal documents; identify variances; perform calculations; post ledgers; and verify against computer data to ensure appropriate payment of claims.
- Monitor disbursement of checks by verifying against control data, consulting records, resolving discrepancies, and conferring with payees to ensure appropriate payments and prevent over/underpayment.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of the physical surroundings by monitoring plant management, custodial care, equipment, building maintenance, and initiating requests as needed.
- Maintain an inventory of office supplies, equipment, and forms by surveying needs, receiving requests, determining stock on hand, requisitioning new stock, and distributing items to ensure an adequate supply of materials.
- Provide supervision to staff in record retention and destruction, including training on required methods of record retention as mandated by the Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS), directing staff to purge files each fiscal year, and properly annotating archived materials for bar coding and warehouse transfer.
- Develop liaison between two or more agencies, departments, units, referral services, and community-based organizations to facilitate cooperation and coordinate work activities across units and programs.
- Conduct and participate in staff meetings, represent location/program heads, facilitate agenda, encourage relevant discussion, and ensure proper interpretation and application of ACS policies and procedures.
- Excellent communications skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with diverse constituencies
- Familiarity with NYC’s diverse communities
- Knowledge of the NY State Connections case management system or other automated child welfare systems
- Bilingual ability to communicate clearly in Spanish or other languages is considered a plus for this position
