Adult Services Manager - Flushing

This position reports to the Assistant Community Library Manager and works with the other Adult Services Manager to assist in managing the library by coordinating and monitoring librarians’ duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Responsible for the supervision, training, development and evaluation of adult services community library staff.
• Organizes and monitors the workflow.
• Provides direct service to customers.
• Assists in developing and maintaining the collection.
• In the absence of the Flushing Director and the Assistant Community Library Manager, assumes responsibility for managing the library including materials selection, programming, physical maintenance, meeting attendance, regular reports and overall direction of staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The schedule for this position will include Saturdays and evenings.

• Requires an ALA accredited Master’s degree and a New York State Public Librarian’s Certificate.
• A minimum of one year of managerial experience including the performance management & supervision of full-time librarian staff is required.
• At least one year of standard or above performance at the senior librarian level required.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of library policies and procedures.
• Commitment to serving all communities in the most diverse area of the country.

This is a union position, represented by District Council 37. The starting annual salary is $73,297.00. The Queens Public Library is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
