Project Manager – Fire Alarm Systems (JFK Airport)
Location: JFK International Airport, Queens, NY
Loyal Source is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager – Fire Alarm Systems to support and oversee fire alarm installation, modernization, and life safety projects at JFK International Airport
. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale fire alarm projects in complex commercial, transportation, aviation, or public-sector environments.
Edwards fire alarm systems experience is highly preferred; however, candidates with experience working with other major fire alarm manufacturers will also be considered.
This position requires a strong understanding of NYC Fire Code, FDNY regulations, NFPA standards
, and airport operational requirements.
- Manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of multiple simultaneous fire alarm installation and life safety projects.
- Oversee project execution from planning through successful completion, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, contracts, change order requests, subcontractor change orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with airport stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and other construction trades to maintain project schedules and operational requirements.
- Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to the Operations Manager and key stakeholders.
- Manage procurement activities and ensure project budgets align with cost estimates and financial objectives.
- Review fire alarm system designs, shop drawings, and submittal packages for compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Ensure all installations comply with NYC Fire Code, FDNY requirements, NFPA standards, and applicable authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
- Lead project meetings, coordinate inspections, and support acceptance testing and project closeout activities.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction throughout all project phases.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing fire alarm installation projects
- Proven experience overseeing large-scale commercial, aviation, transportation, government, institutional, or critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing fire alarm installations, fire alarm system design reviews, and submittal package development.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm manufacturers such as Edwards (preferred), Notifier, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, Siemens, Simplex, Bosch, or other major manufacturers.
- Extensive knowledge of NYC Fire Code, FDNY regulations, NFPA codes and standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, procurement, subcontractors, and field teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work within secure airport environments and comply with all airport security requirements.
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness S-98 (Fire Alarm Systems) – Required
- NICET Certification (preferred)
- Additional FDNY Certificates of Fitness considered a plus
- Prior experience managing projects at airports, transit hubs, government facilities, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience coordinating directly with FDNY, Port Authority, AHJs, and inspection agencies.
- Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling platforms, and project controls.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
