SummaryThrough spiritual leadership and proper management, lead in developing a team in the area to carry out Young Life’s mission of introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
Responsibility AreasSpiritual Development – Promote prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships; develop a yearly personal growth plan; maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community; lead teams and individuals in spiritual development; ensure all ministry is rooted in prayer and personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Leadership Development – Equip volunteers, committee members, and staff: recruit, train, supervise, and cast vision; develop consistent gatherings; create leadership plans; recruit and train new staff; supervise, develop, and evaluate area staff; provide quality summer staff, work crews, and guests; model excellence in contact work and camps; train leaders and team leaders in effective teamwork; build a yearly ministry strategy.
Resource Development – Oversee events, major donor care, and public relations; lead the TDS team and committee to secure partners; develop and lead the area’s fundraising strategy; manage donations and maintain a cash reserve; promote the Young Life brand; coordinate and conduct quality events.
Direct Ministry – Proclaim and model through contact work, clubs, campaigners, and camps; engage in all three levels of contact work; lead or co‑lead model clubs; supervise campaigner ministry; observe and evaluate local schools and ministries yearly; implement plans to maximize Gospel proclamation; serve on summer assignments.
Ministry Support – Manage accounting, administration, internal communication, data, and strategic planning; adhere to policies and professional standards; steward finances with accountability and transparency; maintain accurate records; communicate promptly and professionally; set and review strategic plans; perform other duties aligned with area needs; accept short and long‑term projects.
TrainingParticipate in mission‑wide staff conferences every four years; pursue additional training (e.g., urban exposure, TDS training); attend regional training; seek continuing education including graduate degrees; engage in personal spiritual maturity programs; attend seminars to enhance professional skills.
EducationCollege degree preferred.
QualificationsMust have completed Core Training Phase One.
Proven leadership and relational skills with both kids and adults.
A strong call to reach kids with the Gospel.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Working ConditionsIncludes extremes of camp assignments such as heat/cold, dirt, long hours, and physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc. Staff must be able to handle these conditions.
