Controller - Fashion & Apparel

Our client, who is in the fashion & apparel industry, is looking for a Controller to join their team.

We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial accounting function while playing a key role in financial planning and analysis. This is a high-impact position that blends operational ownership with strategic insight ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory
• Prepare and deliver timely, accurate financial statements and management reports
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings

• Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and scenario planning
• Provide insights on cash flow, working capital, and cost optimization
• Support board reporting and investor communications

• Drive continuous improvement across accounting and reporting workflows
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and automation tools
• Establish and maintain internal controls and risk management protocols
• Manage and mentor a small team of accountants and analysts
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and collaboration

• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
• Supervisory experience required
• Wholesale industry a plus
• Advanced excel skills required
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
