Senior Director – plays a pivotal role in steering engagement strategy, managing client relationships, and executing performance improvement initiatives across turnaround and restructuring projects.
Senior Director Role Responsibilities- Leads all aspects of engagement, including overall strategy, process and output, and is also a primary point-of-contact to senior clients
- Develops strong relationships with clients (executive, senior, and mid-level personnel) and acts as a thought partner and day-to-day resource
- Works collaboratively with MERU’s subject matter experts to identify and quantify performance improvement opportunities
- Oversees multiple work streams, helping to establish priorities, drives timely completion of deliverables, and leads problem-solving sessions
- Coaches and develops junior team members on effective communication, analysis, and other relevant skills and competencies
- Leads the development of complex analyses and performance improvement implementation plans
- Authors presentations of final deliverables, including Board decks, Lender decks, and MERU summary of findings
- Supports Partners and attends pitches, often playing an active role in client development and sourcing conversations
- Supervises the development of a 13-week cash flow forecast and 3-statement financial models (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement)
- Devotes significant time and/or plays a leadership role in Firm Contribution areas such as Recruiting, Professional Development, Marketing, etc.
- 8-12 years of relevant experience at a turnaround/restructuring firm, management consulting firm, or private equity firm
- Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate business program; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred but not required
- Deep, relevant experience in turning around underperforming or distressed businesses
- Deep finance/accounting background
- Experience must include at least 3+ years of managing teams through projects in a role similar to titles such as Engagement Manager / Director / Project Leader
- Demonstrated history of anticipating problems before they occur and flagging potential issues
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
- A collaborative team player who can excel in a fast-paced, challenging work environment
- Confident and efficient speaker, presenter, and business writer
- Must possess a “roll up your sleeves” mentality and willingness to complete junior staff’s tasks if needed
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
