Fire Alarm Construction Manager
The Fire Alarm Construction Manager is part of Johnson Controls’ Building Technologies & Solutions business. The role involves managing daily operations of construction installation projects, coaching technicians, ordering materials, and monitoring financials. The manager works in the field up to 50% of the time visiting project sites and customers.
Responsibilities- Provide vision, leadership and direction to the installation department.
- Set and manage productivity and performance expectations for direct reports.
- Motivate employees and maintain a positive work environment using management best practices.
- Ensure safety and industry training is current and documented for all technicians.
- Maintain installer schedules and track hours assigned to projects.
- Work with Operations to complete work and provide accurate project status updates during WIP meetings.
- Conduct regular site safety walkthroughs and EHS evaluations; investigate accidents.
- Assist in interviewing and evaluating employees and apprentices.
- Develop business strategies and implement action plans to meet corporate goals.
- Set goals for subordinates, communicate expectations, and review performance.
- Attend construction meetings and interface with end‑users, architects, and general contractors.
- 5‑10 years of management experience in Fire Alarm Installation in a commercial environment.
- Certifications in Fire Alarm, Access Controls, and CCTV.
- Knowledge of P&L.
- Experience with Excel and other Microsoft products.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in personal computers and Windows operating systems.
- NICET certification level 3 or greater.
- Project Management experience.
- Estimating experience.
- Salary range: $105,000 – $132,000, based on experience.
