The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides businessadvising, training, and technical assistance to small businesses in Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan. Supported by Pace University as well as the US Small Business Administration(SBA) and SUNY, the Center is part of a statewide network that assists entrepreneurs instarting, operating, and growing their businesses and fosters job creation and regionaleconomic development.
Pace University is seeking a Regional Director to lead its SBDC center, which operates fromthe university's Downtown Manhattan campus. Reporting to the Dean of Pace University's Lubin School of Business, the Regional Center Director leads, manages, and oversees the operations of the Pace SBDC, and manages Business Advisors and Administrative Support for the center and eleven satellite locations (ten in Brooklyn).
Position Duties- Manage implementation of the center’s free one-to-one business advisory services and training programs.
- Coordinate with key Pace colleagues to connect programming and campus, including student internships, faculty-led training programs, engaging Lubin classes for Pace SBDC client projects, and presenting to Pace clubs and classes.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Pace University SBDC, ensuringoperations align with New York SBDC network and host institution goals and performance standards.
- Develop and implement strategic planning to support small business growth and regional economic impact and ensure delivery of high-impact services.
- Prepare and monitor the program's annual budget and expenditure plans and collaborate with Pace finance staff to compile required fiscal and narrative reports for the Lead Center and funding partners.
- Manage center operations and review funding agreements in collaboration with Pace legal office.
- Prepare reports, serve on strategic planning and other related committees, and manage varying compliance and administrative functions related to the SBDC Lead Center.
- Track key performance indicators, including clients served, business starts, capital accessed, and jobs created or retained, to ensure that center meets program goals.
- Oversee case management to maintain service quality and consistency and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Supervise, hire, and evaluate team of Business Advisors, Outreach Coordinator and student interns.
- Build and sustain partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, chambers of commerce, lenders, and business organizations to develop referral pipelines and shared initiatives.
- Lead targeted outreach initiatives and communication campaign, including website,social media and email marketing, to engage small business owners and stakeholders to expand regional impact.
- Provide regular feedback, performance reviews and professional development opportunities to staff and oversee staff adherence to SBDC policies and procedures.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.
-5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field required;
Master's degree preferred. - Demonstrated understanding of small business financing and operations, financial analysis, and program management.
- Proven experience managing budgets and fiscal operations, preferably in federally or state-funded programs, and with strategic planning initiatives.
- Strong ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and meet performance targets.
- Fundraising and related reporting experience related to public and private sector funding sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with public, private and non-profit stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with SBA programs, New York SBDC systems.
