ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Met’s membership program is one of the largest in the world and includes more than 140,000 loyal members from around the globe. Members give $90 to $100,000+ annually and collectively contribute $30M+ per year. The membership team also raises another $5M+ through events and the annual fund.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIESYou will work closely with the Chief Membership Officer (CMO) to expand and improve The Met’s membership program. You will be involved in all aspects of taking The Met’s successful membership program to new heights. In addition to providing administrative support to the CMO, you will serve as project manager for special projects, manage the daily operations of the Membership office, and routinely perform a variety of complex and confidential tasks.

You will develop constructive and collaborative relationships and interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including Museum staff, vendors, members, and other visitors to the Museum. You are a self-motivated and highly organized individual with excellent communication and customer service skills who can manage many simultaneous projects and deadlines, motivate peers within a collaborative culture, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Maintain a strong understanding of the various functions and activities of the Membership team and any projects related to the Chief Membership Officer (CMO) in order to increase the CMO’s efficiency and effectiveness and help facilitate this by tracking projects, document review, and commitments to ensure continued progress, consistent follow-through, and timely completion.

Strategic management, oversight, and support of the CMO’s calendar to ensure all necessary meetings are scheduled and sufficient time is allocated to complete projects and prepare for upcoming meetings and events.

Ensure agendas, bios, timelines, etc. are prepared by relevant staff members in Membership and received by the CMO in a timely manner in advance of all meetings and events.

Serve as project manager for special projects, and ensure projects are moving forward.

Serve as point of contact for staff and other individuals who wish to reach the CMO; on behalf of the CMO, prioritize requests, and handle sensitive and confidential information.

Use Tessitura CRM system to access member information, enter contact reports for the Chief Membership Officer, and create member bios.

Serve as the Procurement Ambassador for the Membership Department, managing requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and payments; ordering office supplies; and serving as liaison with the Procurement Department.
