Organizational Overview

Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is host and lead laboratory for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), a large-scale U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science future nuclear physics user facility. The flagship detector, ePIC, is being designed and constructed through an international collaboration of more than 170 institutions in over 25 countries with Jefferson Lab as a major partner in the EIC Project.

The Detector Subproject is an integral element of the DOE EIC Project and success will require disciplined integration of scientific requirements with project execution.

Position Description

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an accomplished leader to serve as Associate Project Manager (APM) for the EIC Detector Subproject. The APM is responsible for planning, integrating, and executing the Detector Subproject within the approved technical, cost, schedule, and risk baseline. The position reports to the Physics Division Director, and to the EIC Project Manager for project execution. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the EIC Co-Associate Directors for the Experimental Program, the ePIC Collaboration, DOE, and national and international partner institutions.

The Associate Project Manager partners with the EIC Co-Associate Directors for the Experimental Program to define and maintain the detector priorities consistent with the scientific vision. The Associate Project Manager is responsible for translating those scientific objectives into an executable DOE project and delivering the approved Detector Subproject.

Key Organizational Relationships
