Overview
We are seeking a visionary people leader passionate about environmental stewardship, regulatory excellence, and driving continuous improvement. In this pivotal role as Manager of the Environmental Field Team (EFT), you will formally manage, coach, and develop a team of field-focused environmental Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) while championing efforts to achieve full environmental regulatory compliance, minimize operational risks, and promote environmental excellence across the company.
This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.
Responsibilities Core Responsibilities- Manage and direct the Environmental Field Team (EFT) workforce, including Sr. Specialist and Scientist direct reports, by assigning and prioritizing work, balancing resources, maintaining operational coverage, overseeing daily activities, and ensuring assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
- Provide direct supervision of assigned staff, including coaching, performance feedback, employee development, hiring support, and onboarding. Establish performance expectations that align with organizational and departmental priorities.
- Respond to environmental incidents, including petroleum and oil spills, large-scale asbestos releases, and chemical releases.
- Serve as the field liaison to environmental regulatory agencies and support regulatory correspondence and engagement.
- Collaborate with regulatory subject matter experts, EFT staff, and EH&S Operations to assess proposed regulatory and legislative changes and support company advocacy and engagement efforts.
- Lead the Spill Management Team, including oversight of team development, training, drill participation, response readiness, and coordination during hazardous substance releases.
- Lead Quality Management Reviews to identify environmental risks and work with operating organizations to develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Provide oversight of planning and execution of Environmental drills and training.
- Support the company's environmental sustainability objectives by identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impacts, improve resource efficiency, and encourage sustainable operational practices during environmental reviews and field engagements.
- Serve as the companys Qualified Individual (QI) for spills at major oil facilities.
- Master's Degree and 2 years' supervisory and relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' supervisory and relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 5 years' supervisory and relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years' supervisory and relevant work experience
- Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field and EH&S experience including spill response, environmental regulation interpretation/compliance, and/or regulatory agency interactions
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field and EH&S experience including spill response, environmental regulation interpretation/compliance, and/or regulatory agency interactions
- Ability to demonstrate relevant environmental experience, required.
- Completion of Company CEHSP program as soon as possible, required.
- Ability to effectively interact with various levels of personnel, required.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including direct oversight of staff, work assignment, coaching, performance feedback, training coordination, and accountability for team results, required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully complete multiple tasks without compromising quality or timeliness, required.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and/or an ability to quickly become proficient with database packages including Microsoft Office and Maximo, required.
- Environmental incident responses, required.
- Experience overseeing remediation projects, preferred.
- Professional experience working on issues requiring oversight of federal and state petroleum and/or chemical bulk storage programs, preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
