Longacre Square Partners ("LSP") is expanding its New York team with a Vice President/Senior Vice President of Media Relations. In this role, the VP or SVP will provide high-touch strategic media relations counsel to LSP’s clients that include blue-chip public companies and investors. The VP/SVP will work across LSP’s practice areas, which include corporate affairs, investor relations, M&A and strategic transactions, shareholder activism, litigation, crisis, investment management, and event-driven and special situations.
The ideal candidate brings a strong network of media relationships across both print and broadcast, with a track record of placing and managing complex stories with top-tier, trade and local journalists. The VP/SVP will lead media relations strategy and execution for normal-course corporate announcements, earnings cycles and executive positioning programs as well as for high-stakes activism campaigns, leadership transitions, IPOs, corporate crises and transformations, legal disputes and transactions.

About the Role
The ideal VP/SVP will have:
- 8+ years’ experience in public relations/communications, government affairs, finance, journalism or related industry. Experience in a PR agency or in-house communications role is preferred
- Extensive media relations experience and direct contacts at key financial news outlets
- A deep understanding of the financial markets
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- A strong team player with experience managing and mentoring junior colleagues
- A skilled project manager with extreme attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- A proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can operate with autonomy
In this role at LSP, you will lead the day-to-day media relations strategy and execution across multiple client accounts with responsibilities that will include:
- Advise clients on communications strategy, messaging and tactics aligned with their business objectives and target audiences
- Develop customized media plans, proactively pitch and place exclusives, coordinate media interviews and serve as a client spokesperson, when appropriate
- Engage reactively with reporters to manage sensitive inquiries and mitigate risk, including around litigation, crises and other transformative periods
- Build integrated communications plans and customized executive positioning and brand building strategies and know how to develop an effective communications program for CEO-level profile raising
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, anchors and producers at top-tier, trade and local outlets
- Prep executives for interviews and speaking engagements, lead media training sessions and staff in-person media interviews
- Write client materials, including press releases, bylines, talking points, Q&As, messaging/narrative frameworks, presentations and web/social content
- Track media coverage and deliver competitive analysis, benchmarking and whitespace opportunities against key peers
- Serve as a manager and mentor to junior colleagues, providing regular feedback, reviewing materials and motivating the team to deliver the strongest possible work product
