About BOMA NY
The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA New York) is the Greater New York area’s federation of BOMA International, the world’s largest trade association. BOMA New York represents all commercial real estate professionals in the five boroughs – the largest industry in the market area, contributing approximately $27 billion to the state economy. BOMA New York currently has over 900 members who are responsible for the ownership and management of approximately 529 million square feet of office space, including some of the world’s most prestigious properties.
Members include building owners, professional property ers, professional service providers (architects, engineers, systems consultants) and contract services providers in construction, elevator maintenance, cleaning services and others.
Reporting to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief staff officer. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management, administration and direction of the association, including execution of all policies established by the Board of Directors, implementation of all association programs, management of the association’s security measures and financial affairs and management of staff, third-party contractors and professional consultants and advisors.
The Executive Director sets the tone for and approves all outside communications and advances the voice of the association through advocacy, social media and strategic messaging.
Essential FunctionsBoard Administration and Support
Plan, coordinate and attend meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Prepare necessary agendas, reports, statistics, etc. for such meetings. Record, distribute and maintain official Board Minutes.
Keep Chair and Executive Committee and Board informed on the conditions and operations of important matters of the Association. Plan, formulate and recommend to the Board of Directors basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the Association. Develop specific administrative policies, procedures and programs to implement the general policies established by the Board of Directors. Execute all decisions and specific assignments as directed by the Board of Directors.
Provide advocacy on the local, state and federal level working with BOMA New York’s lobbyists, members, industry partners and BOMA International in support of a positive regulatory and legislative environment. Work closely with technical committees to establish the advocacy agenda. Seek information and representation from within the membership to advance the advocacy agenda.
Committee Support (Codes and Regulations, Energy and Sustainability, Business and Market Strategy, Nominating, Advocacy, Emergency Preparedness)Provide necessary liaison and staff support to committee chairpersons and committees to enable them to properly perform their functions.
