Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President, Resource Development, the Director,Operations, Gift Accounting, and Analytics, Resource Development (Director) provides strategic leadership and execution for the systems, processes, technology, and business operations that support United Way of New York City's fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for building, institutionalizing, maintaining, and continuously improving the operational infrastructure that enables Resource Development to function effectively and scale over time.
The Director oversees fundraising operations, donor systems administration, gift entry and administration, prospect research, fundraising analytics, campaign operations, and data governance. Working collaboratively across Resource Development, Finance, Information Technology, Marketing & Communications, and Executive Leadership, the Director establishes clear and sustainable processes, documentation, controls, and cross-functional ways of working; reduces operational and key-person dependencies; strengthens data integrity; and delivers reporting and business intelligence that support fundraising strategy, donor experience, and operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Serve as the strategic operational partner to the Vice President and full Resource Development team by developing and implementing the operational strategy that supports Resource Development priorities and annual fundraising goals.
- Develop annual operational plans, key performance indicators, and performance dashboards that measure fundraising effectiveness.
- Build, document, standardize, and continuously improve scalable systems, workflows, and operational processes that support organizational growth, strengthen institutional knowledge, and reduce key-person dependencies.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and enhance the donor experience.
- Lead operational improvement initiatives that streamline business processes and strengthen fundraising performance.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on fundraising operations, reporting, technology, analytics, and business process improvement.
- Lead the operational infrastructure supporting all philanthropic revenue streams, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation and government grants, workplace campaigns, special events, planned giving, and other fundraising initiatives.
