The Asset Strategy Lead (ASL), Early Development provides leadership to a cross-functional strategic asset team and leads development and execution of the asset strategy. During early development, the role also assumes clinical lead responsibility for the program. This Executive Director role is a key member of senior leadership, influencing portfolio strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end asset strategy from early development through regulatory filings, approval, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive program strategy aligned with corporate objectives, balancing scientific innovation, clinical value, and commercial opportunity.
  • Lead AST issue identification, contingency planning, and decision-making; ensure effective, efficient AST decisions.
  • Liaison to Executive Leadership Team with updates, insights, and recommendations.
  • Lead long-range planning (scenario planning, investment strategy, external innovation assessments).
  • Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Development to shape Target Product Profile (TPP) and lifecycle/global expansion planning.
  • Resolve AST conflicts; oversee governance engagement and transparent communication on decisions, risks, budgets, and timelines.
  • Foster accountability, innovation, and excellence; represent Syndax in strategic partnerships/collaborations as appropriate.
Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, or business (PhD, MD, MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years leading oncology clinical development programs.
  • Leadership experience in a research-driven pharmaceutical company.
  • Track record leading global cross-functional teams through IND, early development, and pivotal studies; BLA/NDA and launch experience a plus.
  • Deep oncology product development, regulatory, and commercialization knowledge; strategic acumen.
  • Experience interacting with C-suite, external partners, and regulators.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing, executive presence, and communication.
  • Portfolio management, financial modeling, and program valuation desirable.
Compensation/Benefits
  • Anticipated annualized salary range: $370,000–$400,000; equity and annual target bonuses; benefits program.
