Positon Summary

The Vice President, Strategic Priorities,is responsible for leading high-priority, special initiatives that are critical to delivering world-class bus service and supporting daily bus operations. This role will manage transformative bus initiatives across capital, operations, and service planning that are essential to achieving DOB's strategic goals, operational priorities, and performance objectives. Major projects will include bus network redesigns, development of bus facilities, transit priority improvements, and other high-impact service initiatives that require strategic planning, strong cross-functional and interagency coordination, and advanced problem solving.

Positon Summary

The Vice President, Strategic Priorities,is responsible for leading high-priority, special initiatives that are critical to delivering world-class bus service and supporting daily bus operations. This role will manage transformative bus initiatives across capital, operations, and service planning that are essential to achieving DOB's strategic goals, operational priorities, and performance objectives. Major projects will include bus network redesigns, development of bus facilities, transit priority improvements, and other high-impact service initiatives that require strategic planning, strong cross-functional and interagency coordination, and advanced problem solving.

This role will identify, execute, and coordinate strategies to improve service quality and performance by working with senior leadership to address key operations, strategic, and policy issues.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the EVP, Buses, across multiple operational support disciplines, including bus planning and scheduling, resource management, workforce development, and capital planning and strategy.

    Provide support to inform executive decision-making andlong term strategy.
  • This position willbe responsible for creating project work plans through implementation, setting service quality and performance goals, providing recommendations, reporting on departmental metrics and initiatives, and implementing initiatives to improve bus service and bus operations.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives that require strong internal coordination with strategic partners withing DOB, NYCT, andthe MTA, ensuring alignment with the agency's strategic priorities, to develop creative solutions to complex transit andinfrastructurechallenges and oversee successful implementation of major projects.
  • Build strong external relationships to advance transformative and special bus projects byrepresentingDOB and NYCT in partnerships and negotiations that require coordination with City Hall, NYC DOT, NYS DOT, and other key stakeholders.
  • Communicate project strategies clearly to technical and non-technical audiences while leading the data-driven decision-making and analytical work for each project and supporting overall project management and implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies withall policies and standards
  • May berequiredto work hours outside regular work hours, as applicable
  • Observes the work performed by contractors, as applicable
  • Reviews invoices and approves them if the work has contractual standards, as applicable
  • Addresses performance issues with thecontractorwhen possible, as applicable
  • Escalates issues to other parties when needed, as applicable
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree inArts/Sciences(BA/BS)
    Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 12 years of progressively responsible experience withdemonstratedsuccess managing complex projects and fostering a collaborative work environment and
  • 8yearsofsupervisory experience, managing teams or projects.
