Shift Lead

Location: Valley Cottage

Purpose:

The Shift Lead will align his/her scope of work with Jawonio’s Mission, while incorporating Jawonio’s Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities.

Summary:

The Shift Lead is responsible for creating a positive, fun, enjoyable and engaging party experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Lead and oversee the team:
Provide guidance, coaching, and support to ensure they can effectively manage their daily tasks and contribute to the overall success of the store.

Manage party reservations:
Efficiently schedule and manage party bookings, ensuring clear communication with customers and staff.

Assist with cashiering and POS systems:
Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring a smooth checkout experience.

Maintain store knowledge:
Possess a strong understanding of our inventory, merchandise, and operations to answer customer inquiries with confidence, or direct them to the appropriate team member.

Exemplary customer service:
Greet all customers warmly, answer questions in a polite and informative manner, and go the extra mile to create a positive and inclusive shopping experience.

Event Management:
Ensure successful birthday parties and community events. This includes:

Preparation:
Overseeing party space decoration, securing necessary supplies, and maintaining open communication with the customer.

Party Facilitation:
Organizing and leading engaging games and activities, ensuring participant/visitor presence, and managing the birthday celebration with cake distribution.

Opening/Closing Duties:
Will be required to open, close, and secure the building following established procedures.

Floor Management:
Act as a back-up for the floor manager, handling tasks and customer interactions in their absence.

Safety and Cleanliness:
Help create a safe environment through set-up, clean-up, general cleaning of high-touch areas, floors, and spills.

Teamwork and

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with all staff members to ensure a cohesive and efficient operation.

Leadership by Example:
Uphold and exemplify company policies and guidelines in all aspects of your work and interactions with customers and employees.

Emergency Preparedness:
Serve as a point of contact in the event of emergencies (medical, weather, fire, security, etc.) and communicate all pertinent information to your supervisor.

Conflict Resolution:
Facilitate conflict resolution and problem-solving with customers, team members, and vendors.

Attend and participate in all required agency training.

Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or department administrator.

Strong knowledge and passion for Lego sets, past and present.

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to connect with people of all ages and abilities.

Experience working in a retail environment is a plus.

Ability to lead and motivate a team.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.

Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.

Enjoys working in a demanding environment and thrives on multitasking.

Ability to lift and carry moderate weight (Lego sets!).Valid driver's license preferred.
