Executive Director of Budget & Financial Planning
POSITION DETAILSReporting to the Vice President of Administration & Finance, the Executive Director of Budget & Financial Planning is expected to provide leadership and direction in the management of the following financial and business operational units:
Accounting, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Budget, Bursar, and Procurement. Additionally, the Executive Director will be responsible for administering the college’s budgets, including non-tax levy programs and related entities. The Executive Director will also be responsible for creating, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining the college’s finance and accounting policies and procedures.
The Executive Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Administration of all college budgets, including various sources and funding vehicles such as Tax Levy, Student Activity Fees, Foundation, Auxiliary etc.
Formulating, preparing, and monitoring annual financial plans; preparing and managing financial reporting; developing and implementing systems to create and manage revenues and expenses; overseeing internal and external financial audits. Reviewing budget allocations and expenditures with administrative and academic departments.
Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate financial performance, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
Support institutional assessment and continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with strategic objectives and MSCHE Standard VI requirements.
Provide executive oversight of complex, high-priority initiatives, including the implementation of Workday, ensuring fiscally responsible outcomes; participate in specialized training and lead local implementation efforts.
Serve as the college’s liaison to appropriate University, City, State and Federal agencies.
Provide analyses to inform resource allocations and operational planning.
Sets college financial policies in the areas of Procurement, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Budget, and Bursar.
Ensure compliance with all appropriate City, State, Federal, and GAAP accounting and regulatory requirements.
Recommends and implements strategies and plans to help ensure that the college attains its financial objectives.
Develop and monitor the strategic and operational assessment plans for the office.
Synthesize complex information into presentations and reports for various audiences.
Lead the development and engagement of Business Office professionals, promoting professional growth, accountability and cross-training to strengthen organizational capacity and support institutional goals.
Represent the College in CUNY & College committees as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Administration & Finance.
