direct employees and activities in the trans./safety training units. These duties include directing and evaluating the performance of trans. Instructors/div. Safety supt's: curriculum development; evaluation of probationary employees; development of new training initiatives; and provide training and direction to the division training supervisors. Plan, develop,implement and manage all dob regulations mandated under nys motor vehicle and traffic law, section 19-aand the federal commercial motor vehicle safety act (cdl).

Develop the policies/procedures necessary for ensuring nyct's compliance with these regulations. Develop and manage the performance evaluation program to evaluate and improve the safety of all b/os. Develop and implement probationary review programs. Provide training to mta bridges & tunnels.

• directly supervise and manage the activities ofsuperintendent’sof transportation and whoare responsible for training for bus operators and dispatchers. Evaluate instructor performance and provide training and/or coachingwhereperformance needs improvement. Provide training to mta bridges & tunnels
• perform curriculum development functions including training needs analysis, program design, and program review and modification. Ensure that training courses and instructors meet job requirements and operational objectives.
• manage the performance monitoring program to evaluate and improve the service reliability of individual bus operations within dob. Coordinate the delivery of undercover check rides, random observations, standardizedevaluationsandappropriate record retention. Ensure that the follow-up actions taken are appropriate tofacilitateindividual performance improvement

• direct the evaluation of probationary transportation employees. Make recommendations onwhether or not “probies” should pass or fail their probationary period. Ensure documentation is in place to support the decision to not pass a “probie”

• may be required to work hours outside regular work hours, as applicable
• observes the work performed by contractors, as applicable
• reviews invoices and approves them if the work has contractual standards, as applicable
• addresses performance issues with the contractor when possible, as applicable
• escalates issues to other parties when needed, as applicable

• a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in transportation management or engineering or satisfactory equivalent of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• seven (7) years of full-time related experience.
• three (3) years in a supervisory, managerial, training, or closely related capacity.

• knowledge of adult learning techniques and principles; needs analysis; accident analysis & investigation.
• extensive knowledge of nyct/mabstoarules & regulations, dob operations, col requirements, nys omv 19-alawsand labor relations.
• excellent communication skills.
