the vp, track is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial stewardship for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of nyct’s extensive network of 821 miles of mainline and yard tracks and 2,667 track switches. The role is pivotal in ensuring system integrity, safety, and efficiency. The vp develops and maintains policies and procedures that protect personnel and equipment and meticulously plans and allocates both capital and operating budgets.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing track’s eam program to optimize divisional assets through effective maintenance planning, inspection scheduling, and resource allocation. The vp is accountable for identifying areas requiring maintenance based on structural needs and must maintain 24/7/365 readiness to respond to emergency situations, ensuring appropriate and timely actions by track personnel.

• provide direction for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of nyct’s mainline and yard tracks.
• prioritize and manage track projects, aligning them with divisional needs and the annual track program.
• oversee the expansion of critical components and secure funding for essential programs.
• drive mechanization and streamline processes to improve efficiency.
• enhance regular cleaning, maintenance, and construction functions.
• oversee substantial budgets allocated for track operations and track materials.
• ensure compliance with subways, mow, and system safety protocols.

• baccalaureate from an accredited college or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• fifteen (15) years of professional experience.
• ten (10) years of managerial/supervisory experience.

• extensive knowledge of nyct and subways rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• thorough knowledge of track maintenance and repair operations.
• knowledge of the nyct subway system.
• strong project management skills.
• high‑level decision‑making, negotiation, conflict resolution, teambuilding, and presentation skills.
• excellent written and verbal communication skills.

as an employee of mta nyc transit, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the state of new york, if your position earns more than $101,379 (this is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
