Senior Director of Clubhouse

Job Summary The Senior Director of Clubhouse is a key member of HALI’s senior leadership team and plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission to provide high-quality, peer-led, recovery-oriented support services. This position ensures the excellence, stability, and growth of HALI’s Clubhouse Program while helping shape the organization’s strategic direction.

Through a person-centered approach, the Senior Director of the Clubhouse Program Services helps create environments where people who have experienced significant mental health and/or co-occurring life challenges can thrive, build community, and maintain housing stability.

The Director of Clubhouse is the senior on-site leader responsible for daily operations, program fidelity, and staff supervision, while working every day as a genuine, hands-on member of the Clubhouse community. This role balances consensus-based, member-driven decision-making with bottom-line accountability to HALI's Executive Leadership, OMH, and Clubhouse International's accreditation standards.

Essential Responsibilities Clubhouse Culture, Work-Ordered Day & Employment Build and protect a Clubhouse culture grounded in the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs, which promotes voluntary lifetime membership based upon a collaborative relationship based upon shared decision-making, mutuality and cultural humility.

Work daily, side-by-side with members in units such as Business/Administration, Culinary, and Outreach as an active participant, not solely a supervisor. Ensure the work-ordered day generates real, needed work that members choose to do, and maintain an evening/weekend/holiday program so members always have somewhere to belong.

Program Operations, Compliance & Accreditation Oversee day-to-day operations, facilities, safety, and budget, coordinating with HALI's Chief Program Officer and finance team on fiscal management.

Ensure compliance with NYS OMH licensing, reporting, and accreditation requirements, submitting required reports on schedule. This includes maintaining training records for all Clubhouse staff.

Track census, attendance, and outcome data (employment, education, housing, hospitalization) to inform program efficiency and improvement.

Staff Leadership & External Relationships Recruit, hire, train, and supervise generalist staff who rotate through units alongside members; model and teach Clubhouse philosophy and peer support principles to staff, members, interns, and volunteers.

Facilitate staff and community meetings that use peer values and Clubhouse standards to guide shared decision-making, and make final personnel decisions when needed while leading through consensus wherever possible.

Build partnerships that expand members' employment, education, and social opportunities; and report regularly to HALI leadership, regulatory bodies, and funding sources.
