Student Career Program Director (Starr Career Development Center)
POSITION DETAILS ”At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone’s responsibility”Baruch College seeks the next Director of the Starr Career Development Center. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President for Career and Industry Partnerships in the Division of Academic Affairs in support of the division's values and goals and the College’s mission and strategic plan. The Director will be a change agent and visionary leader, with strong academic credentials and leadership ability in career development, career‑readiness and exploration, experiential learning, and employer relations.
The Director is responsible for providing innovative, strategic leadership and comprehensive career development services to the college community. They will play a key role in the implementation of the CUNY Beyond and Next Level Student Success initiatives. The Director is a highly visible, engaged professional, who will lead and manage the college undergraduate career center as it supports and assists a diverse student population, alumni, faculty, and employer clients.
The Director will oversee services and programs involving the development of career education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment opportunities commensurate with students’ academic aspirations. The Director will also cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and integrating best practices; benchmarking services against peer and aspirant institutions; introducing creative approaches and solutions to the design and delivery of programs and services;
maximizing available technology for data management, marketing and communication; and actively supporting ongoing professional development and collaborations across staff and functional responsibilities. Starr’s Director will oversee departmental budgets, always ensuring prudent fiscal management and oversight they will also seek external funding sources to augment unit revenue and supplement college funding.
Oversees office’s industry partnerships, establishes new partnerships and nurtures ongoing partnerships
Directs overall operations of physical and virtual career centers, including staff, facilities, and technologies
Seeks external funding sources to augment unit revenue and supplement college funding
Strengthens relationships with Deans, Chairs and faculty to further embed career pedagogy in the classroom. Share student and industry data with forementioned academic partners to inform curriculum and degree programs.
Plans and implements marketing strategies for identifying and cultivating a diverse group of potential employers
Plans, promotes, and markets services and information to students, including information resources, career counseling, informational programs, and assessment programs
Participates in campus committees and projects including but not limited to Accreditation Committees, Curriculum Committees, CUNY Beyond Committees, Next Level Student Success Committees and more.
Contributes to the leadership of the field through conferences, presentations, leadership in professional organizations.
Represent the department and the College to internal and external stakeholders, including employers, donors, media, economic development agencies, and professional organizations
Recent institutional analyses as part of Baruch College’s “Next Level Student Success” project have highlighted the need for stronger integration, clearer pathways, and scalable student success practices across the student experience.
