Tool and Die Maker

Overview

Volkert Precision Technologies, an expert in manufacturing precision metal stampings, are always looking for experienced Tool and Die Makers. We turn coils of thin to medium gauge metals into precise intricate stamped components for the electronics, military, medical, aerospace, automotive industries. Apprentices are also welcome to apply.

We are looking for individuals who have knowledge and skills to work alongside other experienced tool and die makers on progressive, multi-slide (four-slide) and transfer (eyelet) press operations.

• Constructs, alters, and repairs a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very close tolerances
• Sets up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to machine parts
• Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, and tool orders
• Draws preliminary sketches, prepares layout and detail drawings
• Develops strategies for fabricating designed dies using the most suitable machining resources
• Meets all quality and efficiency expectations
• Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas

• Education:
  
  minimum 4 years of high school/vocational school; completion of apprentice program a plus
• Work experience:
  
  minimum of 3 years
• Ability to read/write English
• Interpret engineering specifications, operative sheets, drawings, and sketches
• Mathematical aptitude: demonstrated ability with shop mathematics including geometric and trigonometric formulas
• Experience with close dimensional tolerances and use of precision measuring instruments
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Able to work independently
• Knowledge of machine shop practices and operations
