The Printing Section provides print materials upon request by the NYPD. The Printing Section is a full‑service in‑plant print facility comparable to any commercial printer in the private sector. There are three (3) methods of printing offered: inkjet, digital, and conventional offset. The Printing Section handles design work, print production finishing, and distribution. With general guidance, direction and oversight, the selected candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following job duties.
Responsibilities- Knowledge and experience assisting with the general operation of the offset and digital printing press;
- Have the productive ability to assist the print production of posters, multi‑set carbonless PD forms, targets, books, booklets, envelopes, manuals, folders, pamphlets, flyers, maps, banners, signs and other print‑related materials; and
- Work under the guidance of a printing press operator to initiate and execute various equipment operations, print production, and the performance of related work.

Minimum Qualifications1. A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of satisfactory full‑time experience operating a cylinder‑type printing press using the offset‑press printing process; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above.
Preferred SkillsKnowledge of offset printing and offset printing equipment, related equipment operation, print finishing, digital printing, computer literacy, stock handling, paper identification, general print‑related knowledge, and performance background.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
