CanningOperations Technician
We’re looking for a reliable, detail‑focused, and mechanically minded Canning Operations Technician to run our mixing and filling lines. The work entails setting up equipment, running the filling line, monitoring quality, and keeping detailed production records. The work will be supported by a digital operating system to help maintain a focused schedule and assure quality.
Machine Setup & Preparation- Prepare and calibrate mixing and filling machines before production runs.
- Verify correct container sizes, configurations, closures, and materials.
- Stage and check all raw materials (containers, caps/closures) before the line starts.
- Perform pre‑operation checks for cleanliness and mechanical readiness.
- Adjust equipment settings to meet production specs and run targets.
- Operate filling equipment according to SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Monitor fill levels, weights, and specifications to stay within tolerance.
- Handle start‑up, steady‑state running, and shut‑down of the line.
- Maintain continuous product flow to minimize downtime and bottlenecks.
- Respond quickly and safely to line stoppages, jams, or malfunctions.
- Regularly verify product weight, volume, and package integrity.
- Inspect for leaks, improper seals, seaming/closure failures, or visible defects.
- Accurately record quality checks and test results in production logs.
- Work closely with QA to resolve product or process non‑conformities.
- Uphold strict company and regulatory quality standards (GMP, FDA, etc.).
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Spot mechanical or electrical issues as they develop during runs.
- Communicate maintenance needs to engineering/maintenance teams.
- Replace worn or damaged parts as allowed within safety guidelines.
- Participate in preventative maintenance programs and inspections.
- Follow all safety procedures and always wear required PPE.
- Immediately report hazards, near‑mises, or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, FDA, and GMP standards.
- Use proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) during maintenance activities.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and free of spills or obstructions.
- Complete production, downtime, and line performance logs accurately.
- Record batch numbers and traceability data for all runs.
- Enter equipment readings and quality metrics into systems as required.
- Report deviations, incidents, or quality issues to supervisors quickly.
- Support data collection for continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Execute product and flavor changeovers quickly with minimal downtime.
- Flush, clean, and sanitize lines between products according to SOPs.
- Swap filling heads, caps, containers, or materials as needed.
- Verify new product setup parameters before restarting the line.
- Document changeover completion and quality/QA clearance.
- Coordinate with production, QA, and maintenance throughout the shift.
- Participate in daily shift briefings and handovers.
- Share operational updates and improvement ideas with the team.
- Assist in training new operators or line workers on procedures and safety.
- Support team goals around safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
- You’re hands‑on and mechanically inclined.
- You work well in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment where priorities can shift.
- You’re comfortable standing, moving, and lifting as part of your daily work.
- Experience in food/beverage, manufacturing, or a production environment is a plus.
