We currently have an opening for Production Assembler in our Dyco Electronics facility, located in Hornell, NY. This position is responsible for performing a variety of electronic and mechanical assembly tasks following standardized work instructions, drawings, and process documentation to produce high-quality products used in mission-critical applications.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of maintaining accuracy in repetitive assembly operations.
Details of the Role:
The Production Assembler is responsible for assembling components, subassemblies, and finished electronic products in accordance with documented processes. Work is performed at different work centers and may vary by product line but generally involves handling small components, following routing/travel card instructions, conducting visual and dimensional inspections, and maintaining quality standards.
Note: Specific tasks may vary depending on the product, work center, equipment, and processes used at each iNRCORE location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble electronic and mechanical components using established methods, work instructions, drawings, and travel cards.
- Use hand tools and small power tools such as soldering irons, crimpers, cutters, heat tools, presses, or winding equipment depending on the assigned work center.
- Handle adhesives, epoxies, tapes, varnishes, encapsulants, or potting materials as required by the process.
- Perform winding, forming, soldering, encapsulation, molding, potting, mechanical fastening, or related assembly steps depending on product needs.
- Inspect parts and assemblies visually and dimensionally using calipers, micrometers, gauges, meters, and electronic test equipment.
- Prepare and print labels, documentation, or traveler-related materials as required by the job.
- Clean and finish parts using approved methods such as trimming, sanding, polishing, or solvent cleaning.
- Package finished products following standard packaging instructions and use carts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to move materials as needed.
- Report defective materials, abnormalities, or questionable conditions to the team leader or supervisor.
- Maintain work areas, equipment, and tools in a clean and orderly manner.
- Follow all safety procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Meet production schedule requirements with minimal supervision once trained.
- Perform additional assembly or manufacturing tasks as assigned to support production needs.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, and basic drawings.
- Prior assembly or manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electronic assembly processes.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and measurement tools.
- Experience using basic testing devices, meters, or calipers helpful.
- Good manual dexterity and fine-motor skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel); experience with ERP systems a plus.
- Soldering skills beneficial, but not required.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to crouch, stoop, or reach as required.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual work requiring good dexterity and visual attention.
- Ability to work in environments with moderate noise levels.
