DescriptionThe Production Planner and Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products while maximizing resource utilization and minimizing costs. This role serves as a critical link between sales, supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align production activities with business goals. The ideal candidate should have an industrial experience in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years.
Candidates with exceptional talent can be considered with lesser experience.
- Create and manage rolling production schedules (typically 5-week plans)
- Adjust schedules based on material availability, labor constraints, and customer priorities.
- Release production jobs to stock room daily once all purchased materials are confirmed on hand.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service to align production with demand forecasts and customer order dates.
- Communicate schedule updates to supply chain, export/import, and shipping departments.
- Participate in monthly planning alignment meetings with sales to set priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels and material bottlenecks daily. Coordinate with Stock room for the release of parts to the floor. o Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
- Track schedule attainment and identify gaps or delays.
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action processes.
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory, and supply chain metrics.
- Provide weekly updates/reports on job status, units produced, and labor hours.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Syteline) and scheduling tools.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Experience with discrete manufacturing and multi-cell production environments.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
