We are currently seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of Machine Operator
, located in Endicott, NY. This position performs detailed machine setups, machine process improvement and troubleshooting, and produces machined parts using a variety of CNC machines. The individual in this role must have the ability to check work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances.
- Setup, program and operation of CNC and/or manual machines.
- Perform minor program edits (G/M code or conversational)
- Design and aid in the fabrication of fixturing for parts of varying complexity.
- Select tooling, and determine appropriate speeds and feeds for close tolerance parts.
- Ability to inspect using general hand tools.
- Operate machines to produce production runs of parts.
- Maintain quality standards through understanding of the Quality Management System.
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Orders and/or recommends procurement of tool supplies for use within department.
- Assist with maintenance of machines and other duties as required.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and other staff.
- Other duties as directed by supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary CNC education preferred.
- Strong computer application/system knowledge.
- CNC code fluency and ability to edit programs (preferred, not required).
- Mastercam programming experience (preferred, not required).
- GD&T knowledge (preferred, not required).
- High level of blueprint reading required.
- Use of basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
- Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity.
- Capable of working in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Interested in learning with, and from, engineering team to improve operations.
- Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, stretching, prolonged sitting and/or standing.
- Lifting or transporting light to heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- Repetitive motions.
- Ability to apply mental processes, in order to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- Ability to tolerate fumes, odors and noise.
- Visual acuity. Must be able to distinguish full range of colors.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Able to handle vibrations.
