Overview

As a Finisher at Bednark Studio, you will be a member of a highly-collaborative team of artists from diverse backgrounds. You will be expected to contribute to a variety of projects in both Scenic and Millwork capacities.

You should have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in patching/seaming/skim coating walls, rolling and/or brushing paint, faux finishing, and HVLP spraying.

We are looking for someone who can work efficiently with others and/or independently, and the right candidate will be comfortable both taking initiative and serving in a support role.

Your Opportunity
  • Participate in the Finishing of both Scenic and Millwork pieces in all steps of the process from prep to final finish application.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Finishing tools, including but not limited to: HVLP sprayers, airless sprayers, orbital and pneumatic sanders, polishing wheels, and various other faux finishing tools.
  • Mix paint and match custom colors as needed.
  • Apply faux finishing techniques according to the direction of the Lead Scenic/Finisher or Finishing Manager.
  • Assist with sanding, patching, priming, and preparation of high-quality Millwork finishes, e.g. hardwood, veneer, MDF, metal, plastics, etc.
  • Travel onsite when needed for touch-up calls or onsite Finishing work.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and collaborative spirit in a dynamic work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with peers and supervisors.
  • Work quickly and efficiently with respect for deadlines.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of related Scenic, Millwork Finishing, or Painting experience.
  • Visual examples of previous work.
  • Proficiency in patching, seaming, sanding, painting with brushes and rollers, and HVLP spraying.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry techniques.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use ladders and meet the rigors of a physically demanding job.
